If you're exhausted, unmotivated, and feeling flat — is it burnout, or is it depression? It matters, because the response is different.

Burnout - Tied to a specific context (usually work, sometimes caregiving). - Improves with rest, time off, or changing the source of stress. - You can still feel joy outside the burnout context.

Depression - Pervasive — follows you across contexts. - Doesn't improve with rest alone. - Joy feels muted everywhere.

When to reach out If you've taken a real break and still feel flat, if you're struggling to get out of bed, or if you're having thoughts of not wanting to be here — please talk to someone. Therapy helps. Medication helps for some. You don't have to figure it out alone.
